Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has revealed that the club is not using the R8 million prize money as "bait" to get the best performance out the team in this weekend's MTN8 final.
Soweto giants Orlando Pirates will look to claim an eleventh top 8 trophy – and a record-extending fourth title in the MTN-sponsored era – this weekend when they meet Kwa-Zulu Natal-based AmaZulu in the final of the 2022 MTN8 competition.
The winner of the tournament is set to walk away with R8 million in prize money, which is the richest reward in South African knockout football, but the Buccaneers' assistant Mandla Ncikazi insists that the money is not being dangled as a carrot to above the players.

"The structure in our club is not one that we will announce publicly what will happen with the incentives. What will happen is not for public consumption, but I know that something will happen," Ncikazi told the media when asked about how the R8 million prize money would be divided if Pirates won.
"It has happened before without the announcement. That is how our structure works. It's not where we use the incentive as bait for the players to perform, they just have to perform and then based on how management feels, they will be given the right incentives."
