Blue Eagles Technical advisor, Wilson Chidati said they are eager to win the 2022 Airtel Top 8 Cup to show to their new Inspector General, Merlyne Yolamu.

Blue Eagles were targeting the 2022 tnm Super League but they saw it slipping off their hands after a poor performance towards the end of the first round as they played 5 games without a win, paving a way for Nyasa Big Bullets to top the table.

Currently, Eagles are on number 2 with 59 points from 29 games and Bullets are five points clear and they just need a draw in their next three games to he named the Champions of the league which is an obvious thing.

Giving updates on the preparations of the coming game against Dedza Dynamos, Chidati said their aim is to win the Cup this season.

"We need to clinch this Cup," said Chidati. "We have new Inspector General and we need to win this Cup to show it to her and that's our aim this season. We know that it will be a tough game [Against Dedza Dynamos] but we will use the home ground advantage to win the game."

Blue Eagles were the second team to win the Airtel Top Cup in 2018 after Silver Strikers clinched it in the inaugural season. They beat Nyasa Big Bullets courtesy or Stuart Mbunge's penalty strike.

Nyasa Big Bullets who are the defending Champions of the Cup started their title defence in style after hammering Karonga United 7-0 while Mighty Mukuru Wanderers beat Mafco FC 2-0 at the same venue. #WaMpira
