The Area 30-based Cops, Blue Eagles will welcome the Salima Sugar funded side, Dedza Dynamos on Saturday afternoon at Nankhaka ground in the quarterfinals of the Airtel Top 8 Cup first leg.
Missing the tnm Super League that they had promised to win this season, Eagles have thrown their eyes on to the season 5 of the Airtel Top 8 Cup.
However, Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar Football Club Head Coach Dan Dzimkambani has made clear the intention of the team as they heading to the Capital City to conquer the police headquarters.
Blue Eagles slashed Dedza Dynamos 4-0 some weeks ago and the two teams played a goalless tug in the first round of the tnm Super League but Dzimkambani said they ate not in town to admire the Parliament and Bingu International Conference Centre buildings.
The season five of the Airtel Top 8 Cup swiveled out last week with Nyasa Big Bullets hammering Karonga United and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers putting two past Mafco FC at Kamuzu Stadium.
It is for the first time for the Rookies, Dedza Dynamos to play in the competition after having a stellar performance in the first round of the elite league as they finished on number 7.
Blue Eagles won the tournament in 2018 after Stuart Mbunge converted the vague penalty that the referee Misheck Duwa inferred Yamikani Fodya to have conceded a penalty before missing the next edition.
The former Karonga United mentor said it is to their advantage to play their first leg away from home and they need nothing but a win over the Cops who are coming from a 1-0 win over Sable Farming.
"The preparations have gone very well," he said. "Everyone is fit and wr are not going to miss everybody. The boys are aware of it. We are going there to win, not to draw at their ground and then we progress into the next round.
"It's an advantage that we are starting away, if we win or 0-0 it will be to our advantage because I can't see them giving us tough game at home. It will be a tough game but we will do everything to win the game. We need to win so that we should be more comfortable in the return leg.
"We lost to them but it was a league game. We were the first team to stop Eagles in the first round our loss in our last meeting was coupled with the poor officiation and we hope that we are going to be given the competent referees in this game."
Meanwhile, Blue Eagles technical advisor, Wilson Chidati while acknowledging that it will be a tough game said they are playing at home and they will try to escape away with a win.
"We have to use our home ground advantage and the guys are ready. I believe that we will win. Cup game is different from League game. We don't go for points in Cup games. As management, we need to clinch this Cup and show to our new Inspector General and its our aim," he explained.
In another game, Kamuzu Barracks and Silver Strikers also face off in another much-anticipated quarterfinal game. #WaMpira
